Complete line planning

Complete Bottled Water Filling Line

A complete bottled water filling line should be quoted as a coordinated production system, not a loose list of machines. Define one reference bottle and saleable pack, then confirm equipment scope, interfaces, utilities, layout, acceptance documents and the work that remains with the buyer.

Define the Complete-Line Boundary Before Comparing Price

The phrase "complete line" can describe different boundaries. One quotation may begin at the treated-water outlet and end at a shrink-wrapped pack, while another may exclude bottle blowing, long conveyors, coding, utilities or installation. Ask every supplier to classify each item as included, optional, excluded or supplied locally.

Included, Optional and Local Scope

Area Typical Supplier Discussion Possible Local or Excluded Work Evidence to Request
Water interface Treated-water tank, pump, final filtration and hygienic transfer to the filler. Raw-water works, laboratory decisions and building pipe installation. Process flow, equipment list and connection points.
Bottle supply Blower interface, air conveyor or empty-bottle loading. Preform storage, high-pressure air system or manual bottle handling if excluded. Reference bottle drawing and bottle-input method.
Core filling Rinsing filling capping monoblock, cap elevator or sorter and machine controls. Additional bottle or cap change parts unless listed. Model, valve arrangement, format schedule and included accessories.
Downstream Conveyors, labeling, coding, inspection and packing. Palletizing, warehouse movement or consumable materials. Rated basis for the same bottle, label and pack.
Project delivery Layout, utility schedule, manuals, installation or commissioning as contracted. Civil work, local wiring, permits, duties, accommodation or lifting. Responsibility schedule and commercial exclusions.

Use One Reference Container and Saleable Output Basis

A headline BPH number is not enough to compare complete lines. Ask suppliers to state the bottle volume and geometry, cap, label, pack format and operating assumptions used for the quoted output. The downstream machines must be evaluated on that same basis.

Common Comparison Basis

Input What to Fix for Comparison Why It Changes the Line
Reference bottle Volume, dimensions, neck finish, empty-bottle condition and drawing revision. Affects handling, filling, change parts and conveyor behavior.
Closure Cap type, dimensions, feed method and required changeovers. Affects cap sorting, chute, capping head and controls.
Label and code Label material, application method, code position and number of formats. Affects labeler type, inspection and downstream speed.
Saleable pack Shrink bundle, tray, carton or other pack with bottle count. Affects packer selection, accumulation and finished-pack discharge.
Operating basis Net production hours, planned cleaning, format changes and good-output definition. Separates nominal machine rate from practical production planning.

Assign Interface Responsibility

The highest project risk often sits between machines and between supplier scope and local work. A short responsibility schedule should identify who supplies, installs, connects, tests and accepts every interface.

  • Treated-water outlet to the filling machine connection. Ask for flow, pressure and hygiene requirements.
  • Empty-bottle or preform supply to the air conveyor. Confirm blower ownership and control signals.
  • Monoblock discharge to labeling and packing. Confirm conveyor heights, accumulation and synchronization.
  • Plant utilities to each machine. Separate equipment consumption data from local distribution work.
  • Installation, trial materials, operator training and acceptance. Name the responsible party for each task.

Documents to Request with a Complete-Line Proposal

Documents turn a machine list into a reviewable project. Request the applicable deliverables before order confirmation and identify which documents are preliminary, approved for production or issued after commissioning.

Scope and Layout

Final equipment list, exclusions, general arrangement, conveyor direction and maintenance access.

Utilities and Interfaces

Power, compressed air, water, drainage and connection-point schedule for buyer preparation.

Formats and Parts

Approved bottle, cap, label and pack schedule with included change parts, tools and recommended spares.

Operation and Acceptance

Manuals, electrical and pneumatic documents, training scope and agreed test or commissioning records.

Buyer questions

Questions Buyers Ask Before Quotation

Does a complete bottled water filling line always include water treatment and bottle blowing?

No. Complete-line boundaries differ by project and supplier. Ask for water treatment, bottle blowing, conveyors, labeling, packing, utilities and installation to be marked individually as included, optional or excluded.

How should I compare the output of two complete-line quotations?

Use the same reference bottle, cap, label and pack format. Ask each supplier to state the operating assumptions and whether the figure describes one machine or saleable line output.

What should be approved before the equipment is manufactured?

Approve the equipment list, reference formats, layout, utility and interface schedule, main technical assumptions, included change parts and commercial exclusions.

Who is responsible for connecting machines and plant utilities?

Responsibility must be stated in the quotation or contract. Machine supply, local distribution, installation, connection, testing and acceptance can be divided between supplier, buyer and local contractors.

Request a Complete-Line Scope Review

Send bottle size, capacity, label type, packing method and workshop information so the complete-line quote can list included and excluded equipment clearly.
